Hankees

Yes, you could blow your nose with these and save tissue.  You could also wipe up spills or dab at the corners of your mouth.  Most likely, you'll want to fashion one on your head or around your neck to add some sizzle (especially when you don't feel like bothering with your humidity-frazzled hair).

Speesees is known for kids' clothes, and we've got some cute organic styles in stock for little ones right now.  But, these hankees are for grownups because they want organic, fun, and fair wares, too.  This company is committed and can be trusted to say no to pesticides, dangerous dyes, PVC, formaldehyde, and dioxin while saying yes to cute.

We've got speesees hankies with our clothes and accessories (12.50).

Green Label Tees

We've got a few men's Green Label t-shirts in stock for your watching or wearing pleasure.

Green Label makes its sustainable threads using 100% organic cotton and low-impact dyes in a sweatshop-free environment in the U.S.

For instance, farmers have only been using pesticides and insecticides since World War II--before that, what we now call organic farming was just called, well, farming.

25% of the world's use of insecticides is in agriculture; nine of the most common chemicals used are highly toxic and likely carcinogenic.  That's a problem beyond soil, air, and water and one that humans are dealing with as even though we may not eat cotton, the chemicals sprayed on the crop can drift away to other fields affecting both farmworkers and produce-eaters.  On top of that, pesticide-laden cottonseed oil is used in many a packaged food.

So, by only buying organic cotton and supporting companies like Green Label, you can support healthy crops, soil, air, water, and, most importantly, people.

Spring Eco-Clothing

Our clothing rack is virtually bursting with new clothes for the new season and beyond.  Since it feels good to buy and wear clothes that have a light environmental footprint with no sacrifice of design, come and check out what a difference healthy, comfortable, eco-friendly clothes can make.

We carry Viridis Luxe tees, tanks, and truly exquisite dresses made from soft bamboo and silk-hemp blends.  All of us at the store have been petting and oogling the billowy folds of their bamboo, mermaid-like dresses in particular--they're perfect for anytime you want to be both comfortable and elegant from weddings and nights out to picnics and lazy days around the house.

We've also got some lightweight dresses from Rebe, a mother/daughter team in Los Angeles who bring whimsy and organic cotton into the lovely designs for ladies we have on our shelves.

And, you'll find Under the Canopy's wearable, sustainable tops at the store as well.  You can learn more about the practices of the company here.   Or, get a taste of what their women's line here.

As you make all of your clothing decisions, consider the whole process from field to store--how the fibers were grown and manufactured, how the workers were treated, and what kinds of practices the company is involved in.  Buying from companies that do good things can do a world of good.

25% of the world's insecticide use comes from spraying it on cotton fields, so choosing organic clothing protects our fields, waterways, air, other people, and ourselves.  Read about the difference between organic and conventional cotton at AboutOrganicCotton.org and pass it on!
